PVC Railings for Your Home

Posted on October 5th, 2015

PVC railing systems have gained a lot of popularity in recent years for their durability, clean lines, and long lasting beauty.  The railings are relatively maintenance free and come in a variety of colors and styles.

At Advanced Building Materials, we custom manufacture your railing system on site.  What is the difference between custom manufacturing and box sections that are available at most big box stores?  Most PVC railing systems are sold in a box sections of 6′ or 8′.  If the railing has to be cut to be put in place, there is a strong possibility of having a larger or smaller gap between the last picket and the post than between the pickets themselves.  If your railing measurements are all different, this gap between the last picket and the post will be different on each section making for an unsightly project.

When using a boxed PVC railing system that you have to cut to fit into the opening, you will have to measure from the middle of a picket or the middle of a picket space out towards the end of the rail to ensure the end spacing is the same on both sides.  This requires cutting each rail twice in order to accomplish proper spacing.

When we custom fabricate a railing system, the rails are cut to your exact length required for the opening and then placed on a CNC routing machine.  The machine is then programmed to ensure the holes for the pickets have consistent spacing along the entire rail.  There is no inconsistency of spacing to deal with.  The rail is then set into the opening and attached to the posts with a rail bracket.  There are two advantages of having your PVC railing system custom made.  One, you only pay for the railing you use therefore, you no longer have to pay for a 72″ railing section for a 54″ opening and second, there is no cutting required saving you time.

If your project requires stairs, bring in the rise and run measurements and we will custom fabricate the stair rail for you.  By doing this, the hole in the rail becomes the exact size required to accommodate the slope of the rail system.  The railing again is set in place and attached to the post with an adjustable bracket system that makes the stair installation seamless and effortless.

Installing posts for vinyl railing may seem hassle free but what if the concrete that your railing is being mounted on is not level?  We offer a post mount that uses the patented straight n level collar system making it easy to install a perfectly level post every single time.

At Advanced Building Materials we can offer you lots of tips and tricks to make the installation of your PVC railing project go smoothly.  We can also give you design ideas in regards to using tempered glass, decorative balusters, and lighting to take your project from ordinary to extraordinary.
